Improving Skills for Academic Opportunity - A Legacy of Service

Jeremy and the Boys & Girls Clubs Chess Club

  • Jeremy Peterson grew up in Princeton, and during his High School years, could be found on Saturday mornings with his dad, volunteering at BGC Mercer's chess program. During this time, Jeremy bonded with many Club members and found a deeper appreciation of the world around him. He understood the impact of the vast discrepancy between where he lived and just a few short miles away in Trenton. He wrote beautifully about his experience in his college essay (download below). In Jeremy's memory, his parents, family and friends have established a Legacy Fund in his name at the Boys & Girls Clubs to continue his legacy of service to the the kids who needed him most.

The Jeremy Fund will support the Club's College Access Program. This program improves the academic skills of Trenton students. So, when Club youth enter college, they are not only academically successful, but more likely to graduate on time without an additional year of expense.
