College Access Program
A college education opens up rewarding opportunities, including increased job opportunities, valuable life experiences, and connections. Our College Access Program (CAP) assists local High School students in exploring their post-secondary education options. In addition, we empower program participants who are low-income, underrepresented, and first-generation college students to lead and become change agents in their community.
How do we support teens in the College Access Program?
Our College Access Program runs all year to support High School students to:
- Explore the types of colleges that fit their needs and preferences
- Learn about the College Admission Process
- Complete college essays and develop references
- Offer guidance for financial aid and Scholarship applications
Our College & Career staff work with participants to develop their unique college pathway plans. Each student's plan has tasks for them to complete based on their grade level. The program provides a guide for college readiness and results in higher education access.
The College Access Program consists of:
- College and Business Tours
- College, Career and Job Fair
- Workshops
- Classroom instruction
- 1:1 Mentoring
The College Access Program takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm at our Spruce Street location in Lawrence.
Students may qualify for The Boys & Girls Club Scholarship for $500 based on their participation in the program.
