After School Program (ASP)

After School Program for Grades K-8

Discover BGC's high-quality and affordable After School Program!

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County, our After School Program is designed to stand out by providing a comprehensive and enriching experience for your children. We offer after-school programs in our two Boys & Girls Club Clubhouses (Centre & Spruce) and provide free transportation from select schools directly to the Club House. For added convenience, we also offer school-based, on-site after-school programs, allowing children to stay at their school. Our programs operate
Monday – Friday from 3:00-6:00 pm, and on scheduled school half-days.

The BGCMC is more than just childcare. We provide literacy and language arts support to all students. Our state-licensed programs offer a structured after-school experience, packed with activities from the moment children arrive until 6:00 pm each day. Our programs include academic assistance, cultural and arts programs, life and career skills training, health and fitness programs,  mentoring and STEM. This ensures that your child has a safe, supportive, and stimulating place to be during critical out-of-school times. We create a safe and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Join us and give your child the opportunity to explore new interests, gain valuable skills, and build lifelong friendships in a safe, nurturing environment. Register today and see how our After School Program can make a difference in your child's life!

  • Key Programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County:

After School and Extended Day Learning Programs: Catering to youth ages 5 to 18, these programs offer a variety of services, including homework help, tutoring, social development opportunities, and educational enrichment activities that go beyond regular school curriculum, such as STEM learning, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and creative writing.

Reading for Success Program: Utilizing cloud-based software, this program ensures that members are on grade-level in reading and provides extra support to struggling readers. The focus on reading and language arts is crucial, especially for children in low-income areas who may face challenges with literacy and reading comprehension.

Clubs Healthy Living Programs: With a strong emphasis on health and nutrition, this program provides healthy meals and snacks to members and engages them in hands-on activities related to cooking, gardening, physical fitness, and mental health.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as a Foundation: A core aspect of their educational approach, SEL is integrated into all program curriculums. By fostering critical life skills like self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, we aim to create a supportive learning environment where students thrive academically and emotionally.
