BGC After School Program 2020-2021
Currently the Boys & Girls Club is operating our child care/camp programs under the COVID 19 guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and NJ Department of Children & Families who licenses child care centers in NJ. (50% classroom capacity for physical distancing, masks for youth & staff, health screenings, no guests in our facility, etc.) We have also gone beyond these guidelines with nightly building sanitization, and UV air filters in each room throughout our facility. We plan on continuing these practices this coming fall until the state lessens some or all of these guidelines.
Below are four After School Program design options we will implement based on your local school district’s school plan this fall:
Full Day ASP 5 days per week (if you district does 100% virtual learning, or schools close during the year due to higher infection rates) – we will provide full day programming from 8 am to 5 pm with each student having an individual work stations (including computer) and assist your child with their virtual school learning in the morning. The rest of the day will involve other supplemental learning activities such as our Lexia language arts software, STEM, and math support. Enrichment activities such as Art, Virtual field trips, and character education will also be part of the weekly activities. We will also provide students with a lunch and snack each day.
Alternative Day/Week Full Day ASP (if your district goes to an every other day/week in school session and virtual learning when not in school) Activities would be just like the Full Day ASP schedule.
AM/PM ASP (if your district decides to do an am/pm school day) – AM students would be bussed to school, and PM students would be picked up from school and transported to the Boys & Girls Club. Busing would involve physical distancing and sanitizing between trips. Based on final school schedules the program would run 3-4 hours in the AM and 4-5 hours in the PM. Meals/snacks would be provide to students based on the school feeding schedules. Activities would include homework help, art, STEM, supplemental education support, and character education.
PM ASP (if your district runs a normal school day) – Traditional ASP similar to the am/pm schedule describe previously and our program from last year.
Limited Enrollment: One of the reasons we are encouraging parents to reserve their space now, is that we anticipate limited enrollment (30-50% less students) based on busing restrictions and physical distancing requirements that will be imposed this fall.
Registration: Due to limitations based on physical distancing and busing capacity, we strongly suggest you submit your ASP Applications ASAP. Click here for paper application or click here for online. NO registration FEE is required at this point in time. You are simply reserving your spot. Once the local Board of Education release the fall schedule we will contact you in early August to confirm the final schedule, pricing, and your interest in attending. At that time a payment/deposit will be due to continue to reserve your space in our program.
Pricing: Will be determined based on length of the ASP day. We will announce this schedule by 8/1 once our local sending districts announce their school day schedule for the fall. Pricing for a full day program would be similar to our daily summer camp pricing, and the AM/PM program pricing would be similar to last years after school program pricing. Scholarships and 21st Century pricing is available to students who qualify. Funds are limited and parents should enroll and apply for financial assistance ASAP.
School Based Sites: For Trenton families we have not been told yet if we will be allowed to run our programs at the Gregory & Rivera Schools this coming school year. Therefore it is also important for you to reserve your spot now by using the registration form for our other locations.
Our Investment in Supplemental Education – Besides each student in our after school program having access to our Lexia software to assist with their language arts learning, we have purchased a Learning Management System called Schoology. Schoology provides students with a wide range of fun and engaging learning that can take place both at the Boys & Girls Club, but also at home. Club staff can set up specialized classes/activities for students based on their interests/needs. The great thing about Schoology is that it part of our after school program at no cost to you, and can be accessed 24/7.

Parents on BGC After School Program
"My son loves the After School Program (ASP) and is excited to be part of it. He loves the program so much that he always tells me that I come too early to pick him up. The best part of the program is the staff that makes sure they have a personal connection with parents and children. They are aware of where the children are at all times. The STEM program has helped keep my son sharp in math and the science areas. This is the best investment that I have made thus far for my son."

"After searching high and low for a program that fits our needs, we decided on the ASP at Boys & Girls Club. My son started in September and absolutely loves it! The staff is great, the building is in impeccable condition and the list of programs and classes they do with them throughout the school year is amazing. Looking forward to the upcoming programs and what it entails for our youth."
