The Boys & Girls Club Bike Exchange is an all-volunteer effort that collects donated used bikes, reconditions and sells them. All of the proceeds from the sales support the Boys & Girls Club after-school programs. The bike shop is located at Capitol Plaza Shopping Center, 1600 North Olden Avenue, Ewing, New Jersey. Organize a used bike collection drive through your local sports league, church, synagogue, employer, or other service organization. Bikes in any condition are accepted then re-conditioned by an all-volunteer workforce and sold at the Bike Exchange.
Handle all aspects of bike shop management. Managers open and close the store, supervise activities, price bicycles that are coming off the workbenches, and process sales. New managers train under seasoned managers. This position automatically makes you a member of the Bike Exchange’s executive committee, which meets two hours in the evening once every six weeks to discuss shop policies and procedures. Hours: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays (split shifts available on Saturdays).
Greet customers at the Boys & Girls Club Bike Exchange. Our shop is located at 1600 North Olden Avenue in Ewing. Welcome customers when they come into the shop, find out what they need, and direct them to the right place. On-site training provided.
Repair used bicycles for re-sale. Proficiency with older bicycle technology and tools (1960’s to present) a plus. Willingness to teach your bike repair skills to others.
Under the guidance of a bike shop mechanic, repair used bicycle donations. Training provided by seasoned bike mechanics in bike repair classes and through on-the-job training. No prior knowledge of bike repair necessary, just an interest in learning.
